Surprise:Kristom Fic Complete [Discuss]

It had been raining for days; then again it was the rainy season. But still there was something vaguely depressing about the whole thing. She had laid her head against the cold glass and watched the drizzle as it fell to the soppy wet ground below. At the moment, she was alone. Her best friend, Kendra, had gone on an unknown errand. It must not have been anything to do with Girls By Design group otherwise she would have told Kristin what she was doing. Ah well, Kendra had her own life. She couldn’t expect her to sit around with her as she moped. Mainly because Kendra tried to tell her that she should not let this bother her. But how could she not? She had basically been evicted from the life she had lived before.

She had been gone from Vancouver for about 4 months. Kristin had not wanted to leave. She enjoyed being a part of Smallville. She had friends there and now she was here where she only knew a very few people. Thailand of all places. But it was also a chance for her to make a more serious movie than those she had before. But that didn’t make the real reason she was here any less important and sad. A woman had been the reason she had to leave Smallville. Not any woman, but his woman.

Jamie Welling had had enough. Rumors ran wild. She was putting her foot down. It was either let Kristin go or she would make Tom’s life a living hell. Tom had told Kristin what she was planning on doing before TPTB dropped the bomb. They wanted one more season of Smallville but with Jamie threatening to pull Tom out of it, even though he was under contract, they agreed to let Kristin only have 5 episodes or maybe less. And this time they would put Tom with Erica. At least Jamie knew Erica was married and there was nothing between the two of them. Jamie could tell, as could everyone else, there was something more to the two of them than they let on.

But Kristin knew that they had only kissed, several times in fact and that was not counting the Clark/Lana ones. No, these were deep heartfelt kisses; love was behind them. It was there, she knew it, and he knew it. They also knew that nothing but trouble would come out of it as long as Tom still had her but you can’t help when you fall in love. At least she knew she had. And she felt as though Tom had too. They were too close for too long for there not to be some sort of a connection.

She tried to remember when it had started. Probably the first season, before he married Jamie. Why had he married her? He said it was because they had been together for so long and Tom felt as though he loved her enough to marry her. Things changed for him and Kristin, for a while. They both tried to play the best friends’ card but you can’t hide what they have. It showed up in every single scene they were in together, even when the two of them were supposed to be at odds. It was a good thing that they had been ill in real life with one another during the Lexana thing or they would have never been able to pull it off. What had they been mad about? She remembered it was because he said that they needed to stop being around each other as much because Jamie was giving him hell. They were innocent, to a point. They had never had sex and he didn’t sneak over and see her. They saw one another on set and sometimes after work if Jamie was out of town. They had an emotional attachment to one another. They understood each other. They made each other happy. They could have been a wonderful couple BUT he was married to her.

Kristin hated when it happened: Jamie had finally had enough. She treated Tom like a child. Tom was unhappy but Jamie had his balls in a vice and refused to let go until he caved. He told her before anyone else knew and they had hoped TPTB would take his side and say to her ‘To hell with you’ but no such luck. They sided with her. After all she held the big card; she had Tom and no Tom meant no Smallville. Neither of them could figure out how she had such pull to be able to control the show like she did. She really couldn’t make him do anything, could she? The answer came and it was yes. They had signed an agreement and if he cheated she could get everything he had, all money before and after Smallville and if she cheated, she got nothing. He told Kristin he should have paid more attention to the prenuptial agreement. Tom hadn’t wanted it. He thought if you loved someone, you did forever and you should be able to have a mutual agreement that if anything bad happened you were mature enough to do what was right. But Jamie said this was a way to protect them. It looked like she got the better end of the deal.

The way she had to end the Clana relationship made her sick. By video, good God! Maybe with Whitney but this was Clark and they had shared more than she had with anyone of her other boyfriends on Smallville. Well, to be honest, she had shared more with Tom than any other guy she had ever dated. She put all her heart into that video. It was like a real goodbye to Tom. When the public saw her tears they were real. She had not seen Tom when she made the video. In fact when it was made, she had not seen him in a month. She felt as though she was delivering her goodbye speech to Tom. And she had heard from Allison that Tom was just as emotional about seeing her video seen. It hurt so much not to be able to talk to him but they were on summer break and she knew Tom would be with Jamie. Calling him was not an option and she couldn’t bring herself to call any of the other cast to find out how he was. She didn’t want them to know exactly how bad she had it for him. Kristin had not received any calls from Tom but he had sent some cryptic e-mails on the GBD site. She figured that he had been afraid Jamie would have wondered who he was talking to or that maybe she read his e-mails. Knowing how suspicious she was of Tom and her, it would not have surprised Kristin.

When the door opened, Kristin was still staring out the window. She never even acknowledged them as they shut the door.

“I would have thought you’d be happy to see me,” the familiar voice said.

Kristin turned to find her best friend and roommate in Vancouver, Allison, standing in her hotel suite. She rushed to her and hugged her close. It had been so long since the two of them had seen each other.

“Oh my God! It is so good to see you,” Kristin said as she continued to hug her as the tears rolled down her face.

“Well, someone told me that you had been a little blue and that you might need to see another friendly face,” she replied as she eyed Kendra.

“Sorry, Kris, but you have been extremely mopey and I thought you might need another shoulder to cry on for a while. Mine is awful soggy,” Kendra quipped.

“Ally, I’ve missed you so much. So, sit, tell me what you’ve been up to,” Kristin said as she plopped on the catch and motioned for Ally to sit by her.

“Well, I finished filming of course and then I visited the family for a while and now, here I am! When do you go back home?”

“Right before Season 8 begins.”

“Me too, that is if you want the company.”

“Of course. Let’s go get some lunch. I’m starving. Come on, Kendra.”

“No can do. I have some posting to do on GBD. You two go and have fun,” she said as she sat on the couch with laptop in hand.

Allison and Kristin waved by and left for the nearest café’ and sat down near the window. They ordered some local far and the talking began. The two women had a lot to talk about since it had been such a long time since their last conversation. Kristin told her about things she had seen and about how the movie was going. Ally told her about her family for a while and then a lull hit their talks. Ally decided that this would be as good of a time as any to start her agenda.

“So, did you see the finale,” Allison asked.

“No. I can’t get it to download. The internet sucks most of the time. Was it good? I mean I read the script and all but how did it flow,” Kristin asked.

“If you read the boards, they are all fairly ticked. Especially the Clana fans and I can’t say that I don’t blame them. Having you two break up via video was dumb and the way they got rid of Rosy was the pits!”

“I know that was horrible. Is he mad?”

“Livid. So is Laura.”

“Why?”

“She isn’t been brought back next year either.”

“What? Did Jamie worry Laura would hit on Tom or something?”

“No. The CW is cheap. They want to do season 8 on a season 1 budget.”

“That will never work.”

“So, you haven’t seen Tom’s performance of seeing you on the video have you?”

“No. What did he do?”

“Well, it’s a good thing I downloaded it on my IPod then. Here, I’ll fast-forward to that part.”

She handed it to Kristin who hit play and watched her scene with Tom via video. Her mouth hung open in amazement. Tom was crying and it wasn’t like when Jonathon died or when she was in the Hospital, her last real episode of the season. He was broken. You could see it in his eyes. She finished watching it, rewound it, and watched it again, three more times before she handed it back to Allison. She looked at Kristin and saw that she too was teary eyed.

“Everyone was amazed at what a good job he had done. He had not gotten to see that video until they shot the scene that day. Tom cried for real. It was like you, Kristin, were telling him goodbye,” Allison said.

“I had to go. They forced me to do so. It was either kill Clana or Jamie would pull Tom out of the series.”

“With what they plan to do next year, it may have been better if she had. Doomsday! Did you see they are bringing in Doomsday?”

“That is kind of dumb! Isn’t he a Superman villain? Tom’s Clark is not ready to be Superman yet.”

“I know. And so does he. Aren’t you going to ask how he is?”

“I know I should but it hurts.”

“And so is he.”

“What?”

“He is miserable now that you are gone. And well, there has been a new development. But I can’t tell you about that.”

“Ally! You cannot do that to me. You can’t start out telling me something and then just stop. You have to come clean.”

“But this is not something that I should tell you. Tom should. “

“But he’s not here. So, tell me.”

Allison had not picked a window seat for nothing. She did it to be seen and not by the locals. She didn’t fly to Thailand alone. Kendra and Allison had been working hard on this plan since Ally heard the latest news. Her guest had saw them in the window and was now directly behind Kristin.

“Let me, Ally,” the man said.

Kristin dropped the bottle of water that she had been holding on the table when she heard his voice. His voice. The one that made her heart melt and her body quiver. He was here, in Thailand! She turned and saw that it was not her mind playing tricks on her. He was standing in front of her. She smiled and threw her arms around his neck. Kristin didn’t care who saw her. She had missed Tom and didn’t care who knew it or what they thought. Tom did not pull away from her. Then again Jamie was thousands of miles away and she’d never know. Allison would never tell and neither would she. Kristin would have planted one on him but didn’t want to push it.

“God how I’ve missed you,” Tom said as he continued to hold her close and stoked her hair.

“Not that I’m not happy to see you but what are you doing here? What about Jamie,” Kristin asked.

Tom looked over at Allison and she nodded for him to continue telling her.

“Let’s sit down and I’ll tell you all about it. Can I order something? I’m starving.”

“Why didn’t you get something to eat while you were waiting to come in here,” Allison asked.

“I’ve never been to Thailand before so I didn’t know where I could or couldn’t eat. So, the last food I ate this morning has long since gone. What’s good here?”

Kristin flagged down their waiter and ordered for him. Then she stared at him in awe. Allison snickered at her as she knew Kristin had to be dying to know what he was doing here. As Tom sipped his water and nibbled on a hand full of crackers Ally knew he was doing it on purpose just to watch Kristin squirm. Try as she may, she could not be patient because all those months not talking to him was enough.

“Thomas John Patrick Welling! Are you actually going to sit there and not say a word,” Kristin scowled.

Tom almost choked on his water and Allison started laughing. She tossed a handful of crackers at him and they got a stern look from the manager.

“Okay, since you can’t wait I’ll tell you. Shortly after filming the last episode I found out a few things but I waited for a bit before I said anything to Jamie. Neighbors we had in LA were asking me questions then the notes in the mailbox and emails arrived about Jamie’s activities while I was away for the last several years. The first year after we were married she lived in Vancouver with me but since then she stayed in LA. And she has been busy.”

“She’s seeing someone else,” Kristin asked.

“Yep. More than one,” Ally added.

“You’re kidding?!”

“No. No I’m very serious. She had been unfaithful from day one. Jamie told me that she had gotten tired of me because I used to be more fun that I am now. That I took my job way too seriously. Excuse me for putting a little pride in my work. It doesn’t take that much skill to smile for the camera when you are a model. Jamie liked the partying that we used to do and that goes along with that life style. She said I was gone too much and she was lonely.”

“Did you confront her or what,” Kristin asked.

“Well, we were at home one day and she found me in my study reading one of the latest letters and Jamie broke down right there. She said she had been lying and was a royal ***** for what she had been doing to me. It wasn’t me, I was a perfect husband but she needed me more than she had me. I told her that she never had to stay in LA, it had been her choice. But Jamie said she never wanted to live in Vancouver, she hated it.”

“Did she ask about us,” Kristin asked.

“Of course she did. Jamie had to toss the blame at someone else to make herself look and feel better. She asked if you and I had ever slept together and I said no, nothing more than what she saw Lana and Clark do on Smallville. I said we had kissed and that was all. I also told her that I had not spoken to you since she sent you away, just like I had told her I would do. Jamie said then that she was sorry for ever thing that she had put you through. Then she said the only thing she wanted was the LA house and her car which I agreed to. That means all my earnings are mine since she admitted her infidelity and I have multiple forms of proof and Jamie has no desire to fight. She even gave me the three dogs. Jamie wants a fresh start as Jamie White.”

“Are you sad,” Kristin asked.

“Well part of me is. I can’t say that I was still in love with her. I don’t know when she started thinking of me as money. Maybe she always had. That would be why she wanted that pre nup, which I am glad I had now.”

“Ally, did you know about this when you and I last spoke?”

“I did but he told me not to tell you. He wanted to tell you himself and in person. Guys, I think I’ll go back to Kristin’s place and help Kendra with the GBD stuff. Besides, you two have a lot to talk about now,” Allison said with a smile as she grabbed the check and walked away.

Kristin smiled at Tom as his food came to the table. She sat and processed what he had said and enjoyed listening to him go on about how people had hated the season finale and so had he and most of the others on set. It was dull, not the usual exciting thing.

“It was not the same without you there. I was furious when they told me what they were doing to Clark and Lana. That was just dumb. It was bad enough when you really left now Clark loses Lana too. It was too much,” he said.

“But you came looking for me. Maybe Clark can go look for Lana,” she answered.

“You know, now that Jamie is gone maybe we could do just that. We could give Clana a real chance. I don’t want him to be with Lois. It’s not time for that yet. Nor is it time for Doomsday.”

“I read that spoiler too. That’s really a dumb thing to do.”

“You know what’s not dumb.”

“What?”

“Us here together. What would you say about buying a big umbrella and walking around and get reacquainted again?”

“I’d say let’s go. But do you really want everyone to know that we are entertaining the notion?”

“Why not? They’ve thought we were for years. Might as well give them some concrete proof for once.”

Tom headed to the front to pay the bill but Ally had already taken care of it. They rounded the corner and walked into one of the many shops that lined the streets and bought the largest umbrella that they could find. Tom paid the vendor and they walked out into the drizzling rain, going nowhere in particular. Just living in the moment.

It was rather romantic walking in the rain with Tom. His arm was around her and she was snuggled in very close to him. They’d not been this close to one another since they had to say goodbye. A painful memory that haunted each of them every day. He wished every second he could have taken it back but it was done and now it was time to move forward.

“Is there a park nearby? You know, where we could sit and talk,” Tom asked.

“There’s a pier overlooking the bay where I go sometimes to think. It shouldn’t be too crowded right now. There is a really nice gazebo at the end. Will that do,” Kristin asked.

“As long as you are there, it will be perfect.”

Kristin gave him a look and smiled.

“Too corny?”

“Too sweet.”

“Ah, you know me so well.”

They continued to walk about 6 blocks, stopping ever so often for Kristin to point out different points of interest for Tom. The two finally made it to the end of the pier and she was correct in saying there would be few people there. In fact no one was. All the better.

“So,” he said.

“So,” she replied. “Did you come all the way over here to tell me about your impending divorce?”

“That and to talk to you about some things.”

“What sort of things?”

“Well, to be precise, what do you think about us?”

“You mean do I think that these feelings we have for one another are because we play love interest on Smallville.”

“Something like that.”

“I think this feeling is deeper than that. I have to admit that I felt it the very first day that I met you.”

“I don’t want to sound stupid or really silly which would just take away from the meaning behind it, but ever since I lay eyes on you I knew that there was this bond that we shared that was like nothing I had ever felt before.”

“Not even with Jamie?”

“Not even. It is the deepest, purest, yet simplest feeling I have ever felt. To me, it feels deeper that the strongest love I’ve ever experienced.”

“Tom,” Kristin began.

“No, I’m serious. This feeling that I have for you runs soul deep. Do you feel it?”

By now he was nose to nose with her. Kristin knew her heart was pounding so loud that not only could Tom have heard it but he could probably feel it. She was nervous and excited all at the same time. Kristin knew exactly how she felt.

“Tom, I can feel it too.”

“Is it love?”

“I know it is. I know that I what I feel is love. Do you?”

“You mean do I feel the same about you, do I love you? Kristin, I do. I do love you.”

With that, they kissed. It had been a long time since their last real kiss. This one was no electric than the last. It was tender and heartfelt and full of all the love they had always felt for one another. Even though the rain poured down all around them they felt like they were the only two people in the whole entire universe. It was nothing short of absolute magic.

That magic that felt that day continued for the next several weeks thereafter. Tom and Allison stayed with Kristin and Kendra to help them out with all manner of things from Kris’s movie schedule to the GBD site. They all enjoyed several days of sightseeing and Tom and Kris enjoyed lots of quiet moments alone from intimate dinner dates to swimming in the moonlight. Love bloomed more and more each and ever day. And all who saw them could see that something big would become of them.

The time came to return back to life in the states. The three had spoken to the rest of the cast about some changes for Smallville and the final season. They had a meeting and discussed the plan of attack. The talk with the big whigs was set and Tom was picked to be the spokesman since all this had been primarily his idea.

The day came and when the powers that be arrived Tom sat between Kristin and Allison, along with them were Justin Hartley, Erica Durance, Aaron Ashmore, Laura Vandervort and even Michael Rosenbaum. The men and women sat across from them and waited for Tom to start this meeting. Kris squeezed his hand for moral support. He looked at her and smiled. Tom was ready.

“First off, thank you all for coming and giving us a chance to be heard. Now all of us have been discussing that this show has always been about ‘rocking the mythos’. So, since the ex wife is no longer a factor and calling the shots, we all want to rock the hell out of it. First off, no Tess, make her Mercy and Lex is not gone. Mike will make appearances during the season. Clark can rescue Lex one last time after his memory is wiped by Jor-el and he in turn will help Clark get Kara out of the Phantom Zone. The Doomsday idea has got to go. The Clark that I portray is nowhere near being Superman and he is a Superman villain. Also, Lois goes back to Oliver Queen and leave Chloe to marry Jimmy. As for Lana, with the help of the Justice League, we’ll track her down. I’ll find her and say ‘The world may need me to save it more than you do but I can’t do anything without you. Who will save me?’ or something like that. Lana will be with Clark and he will become the hero he is supposed to be. Lana will be the strong and confident woman that she is supposed to be. Clark can still face Lex and new enemies you come up with while training at the new Fortress. The League can be based at the Isis Foundation where we can hint at Bruce Wayne and actually have Wonder Woman on the show. There are many possibilities for improvement but here is the deal. We want these changes and if they don’t happen, we’ll walk. Contract or no contract,” Tom said in conclusion.

The heads of the show stared at them and then they looked at each other and began to question all things that were brought before them. What would happen here? And what would they think? Would this group be mad? Would that group stop watching? On and on they questioned and requisitioned until finally it was like ‘Why not’. They decided since their way had failed, try it this new way and see what happened. Since they were 140 on the TV poll and it was their last year, they’d give it a shot.

What happened was Smallville became a huge hit. Even those who were complete realist and wanted the show to follow the mythos to the letter with Clois could see how Clark could end up with Lana. This Lana was confident and one of the main reasons Clark was the hero he is today. Chloe and Lana were indispensible when it came to helping with crime fighting. The League had grown by leaps and bounds. And what about Clana? It soared. When the last show of the series ended, Lana was with Clark as he donned the uniform for the first time and finally became Superman.

No show had ever ended with so many letters asking for it to keep going. Smallville ended up in the top 10 for the year at number 5. They were all pleased but none as much as Tom and Kristin. It had been so great because they were allowed to project their love for one another into the characters that they portrayed which made them even more developed. They had grown as actors and as a couple. Every one could see how much they loved one another. It had all began a year ago and it had nowhere to go but up.

Every one showed up for the series finale blowout. John Schneider, Annette O’Toole, and John Glover were there. The party was in full swing when Tom stepped on stage and clanged his glass with a spoon.

“Hey, can I have your attention for a minute? Welcome to the party and thank you for coming. Wow, this show had its ups and downs but it went out with a bang, which is all we ever really wanted. This has been the most fun that I’ve had in many years. But tonight with everyone present, I’d like to do something really special to end this. Kris, come up here please,” he said.

Kris smiled at him and handed her champagne to Allison. She walked to the stage and John Glover helped her. She walked over and stood beside of Tom.

“Hi,” Tom said.

“Hi,” Kris responded.

Everyone snickered.

“So, almost one year ago I traveled to Thailand with Allison where you were filming your movie, which premiers this month. The moment I saw you I knew what I wanted. And that was you.”

‘Ah’s’ filled the room. Kris looked at Tom, smiled, and felt her heart melting. Tom continued to smile at Kris as well.

“And I’ve been doing some thinking. If Clark gets Lana, then it’s only fitting that I end up with you. So, Kristin Kruek, I have a question for you,” Tom said as he pulled a box from his pocket and dropped to one knee in front of her.

The entire group stood up to see what was going on and Kris nearly fainted. Was he really doing this? Was Tom asking her to marry him? Was this really happening?

“Kristin? Kristin?! Are you listening to me,” Kendra yelled out to her.

Kristin blinked and realized she was not at a cast party but in her rented apartment thousands of miles away from Vancouver. She let out a long sigh and looked at her friend as she felt the sadness creep in.

“No. I’m sorry. I must have dozed off,” Kristin said as she turned to face her.

“Your phone has been ringing off the hook for the last hour,” she said as she started to walk towards Kristin.

“Who’s been calling?”

“Tom. He said it was very important.”

Kristin almost tripped as she ran across the room headed for the phone. She looked down at it as she held it in her hand and wondered what surprise awaited her on the other end.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! You thought something else was happening! But you know what Dr. Frank N Furter said “Don’t dream it! Be it!” Who knows about these two?! There could still be a ‘surprise’ waiting for all of us in the end, if we are lucky!

Consequences [Discuss]

OK; so I don't know who read my last story "CHOICES" but I'm changing the timeline a little bit - just cos I think it would be cool if I could come up with my own season of Smallville - so assuming there's a season 8 - then Choices would be the premier episode of season nine. The following would be the second story:

CONSEQUENCES

Tobius wrestled with headaches every day. It had been nearly three years since his cornea surgery and the scars under his eyes have never healed properly. Still, he was lucky. Clark had been a good friend to him. Chloe, Jimmy - Lois - it was like some kind of Buffy gang he was allowed to join. They all looked at each other like they all had secrets to hide from one another; Tobius noticed this and simply smiled on the inside. He was just grateful for the time he had.

His job at the paper mill kept him busy. It was different working for the man who had bought the business after Tobius' father died; but not impossible. He was a nice enough man - had a son and a daughter of his own that may have influenced his decision when reaching out to Tobius. He supposed that people always talked about you behind your back - oh, well.

He was driving home one day when the incident occurred. Tobius said he swerved to miss a cow - but that wasn't the whole story. One second he was driving his car, the next he was at the Luthor mansion - he was talking to Lex -

"The experiment is almost ready."

"It better be - I've invested alot in this project already, Doctor Cane - I don't tolerate failure."

"Trust me, Mr. Luthor. You won't regret this. A few more modifications and you're super-soldier syrum will be ready to test," Dr. Can shifted uneasily, "Do you have a subject in mind for testing it on,"

"I wouldn't worry yourself about that, doctor. It's been taken care of."

And then in a blinding flash he was back in control of his life - but the car had already toppled itself over five times in the middle of somebody's corn field. If it weren't for on-star service - he'd have been a dead man.

CHAPTER ONE

Clark showed the Anderson's out, made sure to shake their hands and couldn't help but feeling guilty about selling the farm. He wanted to keep it; but it wasn't feasible. It needed care and attention, and it wasn't getting that. It hasn't been getting that since his father died. And with his mom a full time politician now - there was just no reason to stay. Lois helped out with the preparation, and was there for moral support, and Clark wondered when exactly did that happen? When did Lois became less and less annoying? It's been nearly six months since Clark has had to deal with Lana - she moved on - it's high time that Clark did the same.

"Lois - you ever get the feeling that your life was meant for something bigger."

"No."

"Well, you answered that rather fast. No disappointments at all?"

"Life is short, smallville. No point in worrying about the past - look to the future. That's what I always say,"

Clark looked skeptical - "You always say that . . ."

"Give me a break, smallville - you're selling the farm! This place is like my second home - I'm a little broken up about it."

Clark knew how she felt. But in his heart he knew that his father wouldn't have wanted the farmer's life for his son. Johnathan knew that Clark Kent was meant for far grander things than moving hay and milking cows. He wished every day that his father was alive - every day since his incident questioned his decision to leave him six feet under. "I'm sorry, Lois. I never thought about that."

"Your father had the uncanny ability to see potential in people where others saw none. He saw potential in this place. You know - selling the farm doesn't mean you're saying good-bye to your dad."

"I wasn't thinking that."

"I read you like a book. Well - I gotta go."

"Hey, wait a minutte . . ."

"Don't worry that pretty little head of yours, I'll be back - it's not like I'm moving away - I'm just - "

Clark shifted uneasily; he was never as comfortable opening up to others as Lois had been - still has he pointed out earlier they had become friends, somewhere along the line they had become good friends. "There's something wrong,"

"No not something - just every damn thing. Look, it's nothing important - look I'll get in touch with you - ok?"

And in a flash she was gone.

Astronomy was a love of his that never faded. With Lana out of his life, he had more time to focus on other things - way more time than he needed. It was these aftershock emotions that made Clark realize just how important the average human needed the routine of their day to last longer then ten minutes. It was getting to the point where Clark didn't use his powers to do his chores anymore - he needed the distraction.

"I can't believe you're selling this place," the voice from his past stared him down like a bullet from a gun.

"Lana . . .this isn't real . .."

"I'm not real now? You can't ignore me forever - "

"I don't know what this is - but I can control it,"

"You can barely control you - isn't that right? Isn't that why I'm here? Don't shut me out - I hate it when you do that,"

Clark closed his eyes as tight as he could and for the first time in his life, wished Lana away - wished away her beauty - wished away her soul - wished away anything that had ever meant anything to him - dear God - what was happeningt o him? Was he losing his mind? Everyone Clark had ever been close to left him - His dad, mom - Pete - now Lana. Lex was such a completley different that he didn't recognize him . . .

Clark opened his eyes and only saw his loft - the girl of his dreams was gone. How did his mind work? Did it work like everyone else's? How much grief can one person take before they snap?

CHAPTER TWO

"And exactly how long has the former love of your life been appearing to you like this?"

"A couple of weeks now."

Chloe shrugged, her experiences of the human mind were intimate indeed - with what happened to her mother and all - but even she was the last person to help Clark Kent, "Could it be Milton Fine?"

Even Clark did a double take on that one,"How'd you come up with that one?"

"You told me he impersonated your dad, Clark. Tried to convince you to kill Lex."

"No. I don't think this is the brain construct program of the ship - this is something else. Lana isn't asking me to do anything - and it is her, Chloe - she's - "

"She's how you remember her,"

"Every detail." Clark shifted uneasily, he was never one for standing still, " I don't know Chloe - maybe I am losing my mind,"

Chloe placed her hand on Clark's arm - and smiled gently, "Hey - we'll cross that bridge when we get there - but if you want an opinion from someone where crazy runs in her family - crazy people don't think they're going crazy; they think they're getting sane."

'It changes your perspective, Chloe - when you start seeing things that aren't there. How do I know this is real?"

"This is real - our friendship is real - you have to hang onto that, ok?"

Chloe paused, took a breath and tried to change the subject - "So I'm going to visit Tobius - you coming?"

"How's he doing?"

"Fine - except he's been wanting to talk to you since he woke up - they kept him overnight for observation - they're letting him go today,"

"Could you use some company?"

"Sure, I was hoping you'd ask,"

All I Ask of You [Discuss]

Okay... This is a fic I started back in November, but I don't think I posted it yet. I have more time to start updating the stories I've started, so I figured I'd post this now that I can update it regularly.

The idea for this is a little weird, actually. It takes place in ancient times. I don't know if I"m bringing any other Smallville characters into this, but Clark and Lana are going to be peasants, and Lex is pretty much the ruler/dictator. And there's some other characters I made up. The title's from Phantom of the Opera, btw. It just seemed to fit the way I want the story to play out.

?This is your last chance, Lana,? Lex roared, his words directed towards the trembling figure huddled at his feet. ?You could have everything you ever wanted. The entire city would grovel at the very sight of you.? His voice grew softer. ?Imagine it, Lana. The entire empire would be at your mercy, humbled at your very presence,? he said, referring to the kingdom that he had inherited after his father?s death. ?All the gold in the land would belong to you. I could give that all to you, Lana. I could make it all happen.? Lex?s voice was gentle when he spoke the last sentence leaning down to caress the cheek of the woman he loved. She turned her head, refusing to allow herself to be touched by the tyrant who was now kneeling next to her. ?All I want in return is your hand in marriage.? He touched her hair gently, feeling the silky strands against his fingers. She drew herself away from Lex, eyes glaring up defiantly at him. The look of rebelliousness painted across her face caused Lex to smile to himself. But only to himself, as the hostile look he had on his face remained there, not to be washed away by a smile. ?Join me, Lana. Together we?ll rule the world,? he spoke, extending his hand.

?Never,? Lana spat out the word fiercely, her voice piercing the air. Lex strode towards her, placing his hand underneath her chin and pulling it up, forcing her to look at him.

?If you don?t,? he whispered, leaning closer to her, ?Let?s just say the lions will be feasting on a new person soon.? He let go of her chin so sharply that she was sent hurtling into the wall, barely able to see the smug look on Lex?s face through the blood that had gushed from her head onto her face. The stone wall felt icy against her fingertips as she groped for a hold to pull herself out, then collapsed weakly onto the ground. A thin beam of light wafting through the narrow doorway marking the entrance was the last thing she saw before passing out.

Lex stormed into his mansion, eyes livid with fury.

?I take it your meeting didn?t go well?? remarked Corbin, looking up from his empty whiskey bottles. Lex ignored the remark and wearily sank down into the couch.

?What doesn?t she see in me?? he said after a few minutes of perfect silence. ?I offered her everything she?s ever wanted. She would be the ruler of the most powerful empire in the world.? Corbin stared evenly at Lex, amusement dancing in his eyes. He took another slug of beer and continued on in his drunken state. Lex could hear the laughter in Corbin?s voice as he continued.

?Do you think that?s really what Lana wants? Do you honestly think she cares about the riches and power you try to bribe her with?? Lex stared back at him, showing no sign of emotion. Corbin continued to look directly into Lex?s jaded green eyes as he waited for understanding to appear on Lex?s face. To Corbin?s dismay, Lex?s expression changed; it now seemed to be urging him to continue. Exasperation filled Corbin?s voice as he spoke. ?Lex, no amount of wealth in the entire universe could possibly make her love you, let alone marry you. She?ll never love you, not in a million years. She doesn?t want any of the things you offer to her. She wants compassion and understanding which, as far as I can tell, you lack entirely.? Corbin?s laughter ricocheted off the walls and echoed throughout the room.

?You do realize,? Lex stated, ?That I could have you sentenced to death this instant.? Corbin laughed again.

?I know you, Lex,? he smiled. ?You wouldn?t kill me now.? Lex grinned at him, his smile appearing almost cynical. Corbin gazed at him with curiosity. Lex?s smiles were never genuine: they always carried a look of danger. Lex?s smirk remained on his face, along with a look of thoughtfulness.

?Fine, I?ll humor you. Now why wouldn?t I kill you, Corbin? Normally you?d already dead, if I had my way. And I ALWAYS get my way.?

?Careful now, Lex,? he teased. ?Don?t make yourself too angry. And to answer your question, you wouldn?t kill me because I possess the information you want, Lex.?

?And what would that be??

?I know more than why Lana will never marry you. I know the name of the man she loves.? The amusement on Lex?s face vanished, and was replaced with a look that was deathly serious.

?Who?? he demanded.

?Clark Kent,? Corbin replied coolly. Lex?s face was immediately filled with rage, growing angrier with each passing second.

?A mere peasant? She loves a PEASANT?? He spat out the last word with disgust.

?Lana?s a peasant too, you know,? Corbin responded evenly. Lex shook his head.

?She may be a peasant? But she?s one of high blood. If it wasn?t for her disgusting peasant father, she?d be a queen. Her mother had royal blood, too, you know. If it wasn?t for her mother?s pigheadedness at marrying a peasant, Lana would have been queen. We could have gotten married, our kingdoms could have been one.? His voice softened. ?She could have been my wife.? Fire now lurked behind his eyes. ?And she could still be mine, if she would consent to my request.?

?She loves you not, and she never will. Her heart belongs to the peasant, and no amount of wealth can make her change her mind. She will never be yours.? Lex turned towards Corbin threateningly, a maniacal look in his eyes.

?I?m not going to deal with this anymore, Corbin. ONE MORE WORD, and I can assure you, the next time your face will be seen in this town will be at the gallows, if you?re lucky. Of course, there?s always the wheel,? he said, referring to the torture instrument that had been common in medieval times. ?Or the lions,? he spoke, enjoying the terror that played across Corbin?s face. Corbin had his fun; it was his turn to laugh now.

?If I were you,? he thundered, watching Corbin?s retreating form turn the corner as Corbin left the mansion, ?I?d learn to keep my damn mouth shut.? Before it?s too late, he added mentally.

Clark pushed and shoved his way through the crowd as he desperately searched for Lana. She was supposed to meet him an hour ago, but she never showed up. The combination of congested roads and sweltering heat made Clark more and more anxious to locate her. Thousands of people swarmed past him, all caring only about themselves, devoid of sympathy for him or anyone around him. Clark eventually realized that it would be impossible to find Lana in the crowd. For all he knew, Lana might not even be anywhere near him. She could be in the shade, but why would she be relaxing in the shade when she was supposed to meet him? Something must have happened to her. Clark scanned the crowd one last time, searching for Lana?s face. He didn?t find Lana, but he noticed a small girl who was staring at him. Children her age tended to be happy-go-lucky with few worries and cares in the world. Instead of a bright look in her eyes, there seemed to be a look of sadness. Her eyes spoke volumes about her; they appeared to be almost transparent. She looked like she could see beyond what was in front of her. Her gaze never wavered as she stared at him steadily, as if she were seeing into his future. She seemed to be viewing his thoughts, his past, his present, his doubts, his insecurities, his worries, his longings. Her gaze made Clark uneasy, and he was relieved when she finally spoke.

?You?re looking for Lana, aren?t you??

?Wha- How do you know her??

The girl appeared slightly amused, and responded, ?I don?t know her, nor do I need to. All that matters is that you love her, and I know you want to find her. I can tell you where she is.? An elderly man took the girl by the hand and began to lead her away.

?Audra, you know you shouldn?t be talking to strangers.? he emphasized the last word, casting a suspicious look at Clark.

?Wait, I have to talk to her,? Clark pleaded. He was desperate to find Lana, and, by now, he was willing to try anything. The man slowly turned around, keeping a protective arm wrapped around Audra.

?I?m sorry, sir, but you must have her confused with someone else. What could you want with my Audra?? He knew all too well of the power Audra seemed to possess, but also knew of the necessity of keeping it a secret, lest she be burned at the stake as a witch.

?It?s just ? I?m looking for my girlfriend, Lana. Audra says she knows where Lana is.?

?Lang, isn?t it??

Clark nodded curiously. ?How did you know??

?I?ve seen her around,? the man replied. Clark had a feeling the man knew more than he was telling him, but he let it go for the time being.

?Would you or Audra know where she is??

Audra nodded, ?I saw her in a room made of stone. I?ve never seen anything like it. It looked almost like a dungeon or something.? She noticed the look of anxiety that passed Clark?s face, and hastily added, ?Not that it really was a dungeon. It might be, but it looked more like a room of some sort.?

Disappointment was apparent on Clark?s face, but he struggled to look thankful. ?Thank you,? he said.

?I can make you stay with her forever,? the man whispered. ?What was that?? Clark questioned, trying to ensure that he had understood what the man said. What did he mean by stay together forever? Could anyone really be that powerful? As quickly as the man and Audra had appeared, they vanished into the crowd, leaving Clark?s question unanswered.

Lana?s heart pounded in her chest as she lay on the frigid floor. She curled up into a ball, too weak to call for help or venture into the streets. Lana?s head throbbed with the pain of being thrown against the wall. She squeezed her eyes shut and longed for the warmth of her home, of outside, of anywhere but here. She lay still for what seemed like hours, and sleep eventually overcame her.

Hours later, Lana slowly opened her eyes. She squinted in the glare of the sunlight, waiting for her eyes to grow accustomed to the rays. As she slowly sat up, her back aching, she realized she wasn?t alone anymore. She felt a hand in hers, and looked up to see Clark?s concerned eyes upon her. ?Clark,? she whispered, collapsing onto his chest as he enveloped her in his arms. Lana felt waves of relief wash over her. She was safe, wrapped in Clark?s arms. She would be okay. Clark leaned down to gently brush her hair off her forehead, and he saw Lana wince as he moved the damp, crusty strands away from her face. She let out a small yelp and clutched his arm as he removed the remaining pieces that clung to the scab that was forming where her head had met the wall. Clark cringed, feeling the blood on her face.

?Lana, what happened?? His eyes worriedly traced the edges of her blood filled face, eventually reaching her eyes.

?We have to get you to a doctor. Come on, I?ll carry you.?

?No,? Lana spoke firmly, causing Clark to stop his movements. ?Lana, you?re hurt. You need to go to a doctor, before it gets worse,? he said, and began to lift her again.

?Clark, please. You don?t need to do this, you don?t understand,? she said, the pitch of her voice rising.

?I?m sorry,? Clark whispered, and set her back down. He held her in his arms, and asked her what was wrong.

?It?s all my fault,? she began. ?I should have told you this months ago, but I was afraid. Lex said that if I told anyone, he?d-?

?Lex? Lana, what did Lex do?? Lana looked down towards the floor and drew in a trembling breath.

?He- He wanted me to marry him.? Her eyes teemed with tears, and the pitch of her voice rose even higher. ?He said if I didn?t, he?d feed me to the lions. I t- I told him I?d never be with him, and he was furious. He threw me against this wall, and-.? Lana clung to Clark, feeling his warm, comforting figure against her body. ?Clark, I?m so sorry,? ?This wasn?t the first time, and I should have told you, but I was afraid. He said this was my final chance. If he finds me, then?? Her words trailed off, and she didn?t need to speak any more words. Clark knew in his heart that Lex would never give up until he got what he wanted.

?Lana, we have to go somewhere, soon, before he comes back.? Lana?s tears mingled with the blood on her face, causing watery red droplets to run down her cheeks. ?I don?t think I can go anywhere right now,? she whispered, leaning against him. ?I just want to sleep? He probably won?t look here anyway,? she pleaded.

?Okay, but tomorrow we?re going to have to plan what we?re going to do,? he said softly. Clark watched as Lana slowly fell asleep, her head relaxing on his chest.

Everybody writes [Discuss]

This similarto the pen(cil) game, except instead of getting a character, you just write one scene. It has to follow with the last post, unless you want to do a scence involving different characters, but if there is even one character from the last scene, you must explain how they got there, because this should be one fluid story.

ill start with a somewhat vague, short opening so that people can go in many directions with it.

Lois picked up the phone. "Hello office of the senator, her assistant speaking" she said. The voice on the other end was one she recognized, but couldnt pinpoint. It was a girl, and she sounded worried. She spoke as if she knew Lois. "Lois, please, i need you to get me in contact with Clark. I can't reach him and it's urgent, just tell him that I called and make sure he knows this involves Lex. I'm sorry I can't tell you more." The dial tone flooded Lois' ears. "Who could that have been?"

ok, now someone else write the next paragraph. In my mind, I know who's calling, and i'm interested to see who it will turn out to be with whoever writes it...once this is over, I'll say who I thought it was.

The Hardest Part/Series #2 [Discuss]

Authors: Angel2008-2009 & Smallville Lover
Lucy and Clark the Series
Summary: Lucy must make a tough choice. She gets a record deal thanks to Lex Luthor. But will she have to leave her new family, and boyfriend and best friend behind? read on to find out! This is the Sequal to Lucy the first story I submitted to the board
Disclaimer : I do not own any of the Smallville Characters or the show. However, I do own Lucy Jennings a character I made up and the story plot belongs to me and Smallville lover.

Chapter 1 The new Senator

Lucy watched from the sidelines as Mr Kent won the election. She was happy for him mainly because Smallville deserved him as Senator. Clapping, she was happy for the Kent family. Lucy longed to be part of a family like that. Before the election, Lucy did all she could to support Lex. She even had a major part in advertising his campaign. She was his personal assistant as he liked to call her. But Lucy wanted to be more than just a personal assistant. She wanted to be noticed by Lex and by everyone

Moving to Smallville hadn't been easy for Lucy and her mom. They were so used to the glam life of California. The Big city called San Diego. Lucy missed all of her friends. Right now, she was too busy following Lex around trying to help with his campaign. But now that the election was over, Lucy didn't know where she stood. Lex had grown cold, and he casted glares over to the Kent family. Lex never did notice her. He didn't care if she was even alive. And this hurt Lucy so much.

What Lex didn't know was that she had secretly voted for Mr Kent behind his back. Lucy knew this would make Lex furious at her, but she couldn't let Mr Kent lose to someone who was pure evil. Lucy caught Lex glaring at her from across the room, but she didn't care.

She walked over towards the Kents. She wanted to say congratulations to Mr Kent on his victory. Approaching them, she asked nervously "Mr Kent?" she hoped Jonathan didn't sense that she was in big trouble. She didn't want him involved in anything.

Jonathan grinned as he stood before the crowd of cheering votors. His heart filled with joy as he heard the plaudits of the crowd. Jonathan knew there were people who wanted Lex Luthor to win, but he ignored the hostile glares of Lex and his campaign team. He felt a hint of sympathy for Lex, but he realized that maybe it was just guilt. He pushed the feeling away, nothing that he had nothing to feel remorse full about, nothing regarding Lex, anyway.

His thoughts were interrupted as a myrid of fans coming up to him. He was jostled towards his family, and smiled as he reached Clark and Martha. "Congratulations". Clark smiled, and Jonathan's face glowed. "I couldn't have done it without your help". he responded returning to Clark's smile. Jonathan hugged his wife, and was soon greeted by a friendly-looking girl.

Her golden hair glistened in the sun and her bright eyes smiled at him "Hi, Mr Ken't", she began "I"m Lucy Jennings". She extended her hand towards him and he shook it warmly. Jonathan had no idea that, a couple weeks ago, she had been one of the people who was helping Lex Luthor, and also one of the people who had been glaring at him. Clark watched as his father emerged from the crowd. It was amazing to see that his own father was standing, receiving the applause of the crowd, appearing in front of American flag

Chapter 2

Clark couldn't be more proud of his father. He cast a glance toward Lex who appeared to be trying to control his anger. Years ago, Clark would have felt sorry for Lex. He would have defended him against the cheering crowd. But those days were long gone. Lex's and Clark's friendship seemed to be growing more and more obvious with each passing day. He wasn't the same person he had been before, and with a pang of sorrow, Clark realized that he would never revert back to his old ways, when he was trying to do the right thing.

While shaking Jonathan's hand, Lucy felt a deep pain of guilt she didn't understand why before she had been jealous of the entire Kent Family. They were extremely nice people. But, she knew the reason why. She longed desperately to belong to a family like Clark's to have two caring parents who would worry about her and take care of her.

Lucy for most of her life had to take care of herself. Lucy for most of her life had been without parents and without a boyfriend and had to support herself with singing at bars nightly. When Lex had discovered Lucy's talent for singing, he had promised he'd help launch her a music career if she could in return help him win an upcoming election. Lucy had agreed to help him and hoped the two would become fast friends or so she had thought. Throughout the whole campaign, Lex cared more about winning the election than trying to help her.

Lucy finished greeting Mr Kent then she went back to her office Lex had given her to pack up her things since the election was over, Lucy felt she wasn't needed anymore.. "I saw you shaking Jonathan Kent's hand", said a firm and angry voice it was Lex as he stepped in. Lucy rolled her eyes she didn't feel like dealing with Lex at the moment. "I was congratulating the winner. Your suppose to do that at elections. Its called beign Civil". she said.

"Sources tell me that my campaign manager went behind my back and voted for Mr Kent. I thought you supported me Lucy". Lucy was shocked to hear this. "I did! Until you forgot you were suppose to help me. All you cared about was the stupid election and yourself!" her voice got high.

"I do not hire traitors to work for me you're fired", said Lex "And have your things out of the mansion tonight". Lucy gasped "But Lex! I did everything for you! I spent tons of money on the election campaign! I even stuck up for you when others put you down!" Lucy was shocked she didn't expect him to turn on her. Lex pretended not to hear her. He just walked off. Lucy stood there fuming. She didn't know that Jonathan and Clark was nearby listening. Lucy got so mad she destroyed one or two of Lex's computers by sending them crashing to the floor.

Then she sank back into a corner and cried. Not knowing Jonathan and Clark were the two eavesdroppers, Smallville was starting to not look to promising to her. She was now out of a job and would soon be out on the streets again.

Chapter 3 A fresh Start

Clark walked over to Lucy and stood beside her. "Hard Day?" he asked sympathetically. "I'll say. I did everything for his stupid campaign, and this is the thanks I get. ANd now I've blown almost all my money on this campaign. I have nothing left. Nothing". she repeated, hoping that repeating the word would make everything better. As if.

"Lex can make a bad enemy", Clark admitted. "But he can make a good friend, too. Until he betrays your trust". "I take it, you've had bad experiences with him, too?"
"Unfortunately, yes. More than I can count". said Clark. Lucy nodded grimly. "It's just not fair. I mean, I didn't want to keep working for him anyway, but it was suppose to be my decision, not his. I wanted to quit for myself, to give myself a say in things. I guess it would have been a way of standing up for myself , by quitting."

"But he beat you to it" Clark said knowingly. "Yup, Beat me at my own Game", Lucy agreed. Shaking her head sadly. "I guess I should have known better. Part of me feels a little relieved that I don't have to work for him anymore". "Who wouldn't? no one wants to be pushed around by someone more powerful than them". said Clark.

"Still", Lucy said, sighing. "I have no place to go, I'll have to find a job, but I doubt I can find one that pays decently. Lex will probably have me black listed or something. I should have never started working for him in the first place", she said biting her lip to hold back angry tears from spilling her cheeks.

"Hey". Clark said, putting an arm on her back. "I know how you feel, hang on a second. I'm going to go get my dad". But he didn't need to, and Jonathan came up behind him almost immediately. "We overheard most of your conversation with Lex", Jonathan said. "And, from what I heard from your conversation with Clark, if you'll pardon my eavesdropping, you need a place to stay?"

"I'll say", Lucy said, folding her arms across her chest.

"You can always come stay with us". said Jonathan.

"Really Mr. Kent?" asked Lucy.

"Sure".

"Thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't feel right. I'd really like to earn my way through Smallville, and I don't think I can stay at your farm without feeling like a freeloader". "You can work on the Campaign", Clark offered. "Lois could always use some extra help running the Campaign for my dad".

"That's a great idea, son". Jonathan smiled.

"Then, it's settled! Clark, Mr. Kent, thank you so much!" she surprised them both with a hug.

Chapter 4 Moving In

After gathering all of her things at the Luthor Mansion and her belongings, Lucy had packed up and left quickly not wanting another run-in with Lex Luthor. She followed the directions to the Kent Farm that Jonathan gave her. It was nice of them to offer her a place to stay. She had once heard from Lex and his dad that the Kents were kind people.

She had called her fellow band members to tell them she was moving and that she would find them a new place for them and her to practic her songs. She just had to ask the Kents if she and the Band could use the Barn. That way, Lucy wouldn't disturb the Kents in their own home. Lucy had also remembered to bring her electric guitar and Keyboard with her. Besides her talent for singing and songwriting, Lucy also played Instruments. She liked to think of herself as an aspiring artist and musician.

But, now her one and only chance at having a record deal was gone she thought sadly. Oh well, it was always nice to dream wasn't it? She thought as she pulled into the Kents driveway. It was soon going to be dark and she had better get inside. She blowed the horn to let them know she was there.

"Hi, you must be Lucy!" Mrs. Kent said warmly, welcoming Lucy into their home. Jonathan and Clark had told her that Lucy was going to be staying with them, and Martha agreed that one extra person wouldn't be a burden. It was always nice to have a new face around the house, and Lucy seemed to be a friendly person. Everyone needed a helping hand once in awhile, and it felt nice to give back to the community that offered so much help.

"Hello", said Lucy greeting Martha. "You're Mrs. Kent, right?"

"Right, Honey", she said, "Its so nice to meet you. I've heard alot about you from Jonathan and Clark". Lucy nodded. "I can keep to myself mostly. Really, I don't want to be a burden. Letting me stay in your house is more than generous".

Mrs. Kent dismissed Lucy's statement with a wave of her hand. "Nonsense", she said. "You live here, and as long as you're living here with us, you're part of the family. There's no need to keep to yourself. We're more than happy to have another person to talk to".

"Thank you, Mrs. Kent", Lucy smiled. "You're so kind". Their heads turned as Clark came into the room, looking at Martha. "Mom, I think we need more-" he suddenly realized that Lucy was in the room. "Oh, hi, Lucy", he said cheerfully, and Lucy greeted him as well.

"Honey, why don't you help Lucy with her bags?" Mrs. Kent asked Clark. "Of Course", Clark said, and reached to help Lucy. "It's okay, I can carry them myself". she said. "No, that's fine really I can help" Clark replied, lifting Lucy's luggage.
"Well, thanks". she said

"Come on, I'll show you to your room". said Clark.
Lucy followed Clark up the stairs she passed his bedroom and into another room that was turned into a guest room. It was nice, airy, and cheerful decorated in Blue and Aqua colors.

She sat her Instruments down in one corner and thought to herself. How on earth was she going to explain In words to ask the Kents if she could use their barn or her room for the matter to practice her music? Lucy most definately wouldn't play music in the house at night. she'd move the band out to the barn if it came to that or do something.

Chapter 5 Asking a favor

When Lucy came downstairs, some sandwiches had been made, so she helped herself to a few, and poured herself a glass of juice.Lucy cleared her throat. "Mr and Mrs Kent?" Lucy noticed they immediately looked up at her. Lucy wasn't used to this kind of attention but she liked it. At least the Kents knew she existed and that she was a real person.

"Go ahead Honey", said Mrs. Kent. Jonathan looked at her sipping his tea. "Um, I don't know how to go about asking this, but, I'm an aspiring singer, and musician so I am kinda needing somewhere to practice my music. And My band needs somewhere to practice with me to. I was thinking we could use the barn if thats ok with you guys. And if its just me singing, I'll be upstairs". Lucy finished. She noticed Martha and Jonathan looking at one another.

"What is it, Honey?" Mrs Kent asked Lucy, Lucy never asked for much, and she had been so supportive of Jonathan and the Family during the Campaign. She would be glad to help make Lucy more comfortable. However, she hadn't anticipated the question Lucy would ask.

"I know this might be a lot to ask, and if you said no, then I'd completely understand". Lucy began , wringing her hands nervously in front of her., The Kents looked at her expectantly, making her a little nervous, "I was wondering if my band and I could practice in the barn on this farm or something". she asked quietly without pausing for a breath. Then she smiled and put her hands at her sides. "I'm not sure how loud it would sound from the barn, but music is an important part of my life, and it would mean so much to me if you would both let me practice in the Barn. I feel like I'm intruding on your territory, almost, since I don't know you as well as I'd like to, and you really don't know me as well as I'd like you to. But I hope we can get to know each other better, and I wanted to let you know how thankful I would be if you let me continue to pursue my music Interests". she said "I'm sorry, now I'm just babbling.

Jonathan cleared his throat and took a sip of his tea again. "I can tell how much music must mean to you". he said.. "When I was in High School, my father never really understood me as well as I wish he did. He didn't let me pursue some of the things I was really interested in. And I don't want to make the same mistakes he did. I always promised myself that I wouldn't hold anyone back from their dreams, and I'm certainly not going to hold you back from yours. I believe I speak for the whole family when I say that. We'd all be more than happy to let you practice your music in the Barn".

Chapter 6 Following her Dreams

"I know it may get a little loud, but I'm sure you're very gifted, and we're willing to see past the noise". He looked at Martha. Who nodded in her approval. "Thank you so much!" Lucy said, hugging Martha and Jonathan "And thanks for believing in me".

LUcy was so happy that the Kents were letting her do what she wanted. If she ever recorded her first album, she'd give them credit in the thank you notes. She had went upstairs that night to call her bandmates which were all girls her closest friends. Roxanne, Diedre, Hannah, Amber, and Alexx, were all happy to hear the news.

Lucy had three of them on fourway. they made plans to practice the following Friday in the Kent Barn. Lucy reminded them to bring instruments and the big speakers they used. Lucy wondered if the Kents would like to watch a rehearsal that way it would let them see the gifted side of her.

That Friday, Lucy began practicing. SHe started off by singing the latest song she wrote it was about a dear friend she had lost in a wreck. Lucy went into complete singer mode and began singing.

Someone's Watching Over Me

I found myself today
Oh, I found myself
And ran away
But something pulled me back
Voice of reason
I forgot I had

All I know is you?re not here to say
What you always used to say
And it?s written in the sky tonight

Chorus

So I won't give up
No, I wont break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark ill still believe
Someone?s watching over me

Seen that ray of light
And its shining on my destiny
Shining all the time
And I won't be afraid
To follow everywhere its taking me

All I know is yesterday is gone
And right now I belong
To this moment
To my dreams

Chorus

So I won't give up
[Someone's Watching Over Me lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

No, I wont break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I?ll still believe
Someone?s watching over me

It doesn't matter what people say
And it doesn't matter how long it takes
Believe in yourself and you'll fly high

And it only matters how true you are
Be true to yourself
And follow your heart

Chorus

So I won't give up
No, I wont break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I?ll still believe

That I wont give up
No, I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
That someone?s watching over,
Someone?s watching over,
Someone?s watching over me

ohohohohohohohoh

Someone?s watching over me

Chapter 7 Good times

The family burst into applause as Lucy finished playing the song with her band. Lucy glanced around her, feeling slightly nervous and out of place. She wasn't used to getting applause like this. Another part of her felt happy and welcome; she enjoyed the attention a little, she had to admit.

"Wow, Lucy", Lana said, as the applause died down. "That was amazing. Actually, it's better than some of the bands I've had to play at the Talon." Lucy beamed, trying to be modest, but her face burst into a bright smile. "Really?" she questioned excitedly.

"Really. Listen, I need someone to play at the Talon this weekend. And I was wondering...." Lucy nodded, not daring to hope that she would really be able to play at the Talon.

"Would you be able to play there this weekend? I know its short notice, but you're absolutely amazing. We're looking for more residents to come out of the shower and sing in public. You know, like a talent search sort of thing. And you're exactly what I've been looking for . So, would you be interested?"

"lana, I'd love to", she said, her face radiant and eyes sparkling. "Great!" Lana nodded "So, it's decided then". "Congratualations", Mrs. Kent said, smiling at her. "You were wonderful , sweetie. I'm so glad I let you and your band practice. It's an honor , to have you practice here, in our barn".

"Great job". Clark added, studying the happiness on Lucy's face. She looked so happy, so beautiful.... so absolutely perfect. The family left, and only Clark and Lucy remaining.

"Lucy, that song was just amazing with the way you sang it, it semed so true and heartfelt. It was beautiful". "Thanks", tears formed in Lucy's . "It was for a friend of mine who died in a car crash, I always feel this connection to her. I really miss her, but my music helps me deal with my feelings".

Chapter 8 World's biggest zit

Friday, around noon was total chaos. Shelby the dog had eaten the Kent's dinner which consisted of Fried Chicken and Squash and mashed potatoes. Jonathan had scolded Shelby and sent him outside for the time being. Lucy and Mrs Kent decided to make sandwiches they were quick and didn't involve much preparing.

After Lunch, Lucy was a total wreck. She had discovered a huge zit on her face, couldn't find anything to wear suitable for the evening's performance, and, she was having a bad hair day, plus three of her nails got chipped. There was only one thing to do. Grab Lois and go shopping for new stage wardrobe, and get hair and nails done pronto. Plus, she had to figure out a way to cover a huge zit. Putting a baseball cap on, some foundation her bad image was hardly noticeable. Lucy dialed Lois and told her she needed to go shopping and fast.

Lois showed up 15 minutes later and looked at Lucy's zit. "Yeah it does look better with makeup on it". she commented "But, I know exactly what you can use to get rid of that zit and what to wear on it until it goes away".Lucy hoped that she didn't run into Clark on the way out the door. She didn't want him to see her with the zit. It would be embarassing for a hot guy like Clark to see her like this.

"Where you going, Lucy?" Mrs. Kent asked as they came down the stairs. She noticed Lucy dressed like a tomboy. "It's a zit, bad hair, bad wardrobe day and we're hitting the Mall", Lucy said in a rush without blinking. "Oh! I see well your secret's safe with me. Have fun girls!" Martha said. "We Will!"

"Okay, Lucy", Mrs. Kent said, smiling slightly. she was well accustomed to the anxious feelings that accompanied a zit at the worst possible moment. "Ugh, I can't wait to get rid of this thing", Lucy said, brushing her hand against the offending blemish.

"Oh, honey, it's not so bad, when it's on your face, it looks much worse to you than it does to other people. Every imperfection seems.... magnified, to a certain extent, when it's on your own face. Don't worry about it".

"Thanks, Mrs. Kent. It's a little hard not to, though. I don't want people to only notice the pimple on my face and nothing else".

"It's fine, they won't trust me. I always imagined things being worse than they actually were. I guess it helped me. It's better to worry than to be over confident, but neither is good for you. Try to relax. And have fun with Lois!" she called over her shoulder as Lucy ran out the door. It was nice to have a girl in the house again, she thought. Clark would barely touch on the subject, she thought with a smile.

"Lucy, don't you think this is a little blown out of Proportion?" Lois questioned when Lucy looked at herself int he mirror, squinting distastefully.

"Hmm?" Lucy asked, distracted.

"It's just a zit. Worrying about it doesn't solve your problems. It'll just make you stressed and make it worse. Really, don't worry about it, It'll be gone in no time", she assured Lucy, who smiled slightly.

Chapter 9 Shopping can be adventurous

In about an hour, lucy was standing in front of the mirror in a shimmering light blue top. She cocked her head to the side, adjusting the straps and her necklace. Satisfied, she smiled. "It's beautiful", she said, running her hands along the edge of the fabric.

"That looks amazing on you Lucy", Lois said, smiling as she returned to the dressing room, carrying a pair of sparkling jeans, studded with rhinestones. "Look at what I found", said Lois in a singsong.

"Wow. Lois!" Lucy said, smiling brightly. "Where on earth did you find those? They're absolutely gorgeous." "And they only had one pair left and it happens to be", she said, unfolding the jeans, "In just your size".

Lucy squealed with excitement. She was having good luck so far in finding cool outfits. "Thanks lOis!" she took the pants then tried them on they looked awesome with her blue top. "I'll take them". she squealed again. Lucy tried on 4 more outfits. Since she was only having an hour long show, she needed only 4 outfits. She could always buy more later. She next tried on a red sparkle top with studded jeans and a blue jean studded jacket. It looked cool and rocking.

An hour later, Lucy and Lois were at the Food court checking out guys and making fun of people with ugly hair. "Look at that one! His hair is a mix of colors! said Lucy Laughing so hard Coke shot out of her nose. This made Lois laugh and pointed at Lucy. "Kodak Moment! WHere's my camera?" said Lois playfully searching her purse.

"Stop!" Lucy about choked on her laughter. Clark couldn't see a photo of coke coming out of her nose. Lois wouldn't would she? Lucy blinked and caught Lois smiling at her as if reading her mind. "I would", she said laughing at Lucy's expression.

Lucy playfully tossed a few french fries at her. Meanwhile, Lex Lex was nearby was watching Lucy. How did she get happy so fast? Just the other day, he fired her. Lex didn't understand women. Lucy continued to talk as Lex listened to her. "Jonathan hired me as an assistant manager hope you don't mind lois".

"Not at all. I'm so busy these days with college, I don't have time to work". says Lois. Lucy was glad that Lois wasn't mad. From nearby, Lex seethed. She was working for Jonathan Kent! what a traitor! she had to pay! He marched right over prepared to say what was on his mind.

As they were getting ready to leave, Lucy heard Lex's voice: "Lucy". he said.
Lucy turned so did Lois. "look at what the cat dug up", said Lois rolling her eyes. "Come on Luc". Lois grabbed her arm.

"Wait. I want to talk to you Lucy", Lex demanded he wasn't letting this go so soon. "What do you want Lex?" asked Lucy.

"I hear your working for Jonathan Kent", he said through gritted teeth. "Yes. And I have a job singing at the Talon on weekends." she said. "You traitor!" Lex grabbed her slamming her into the balcony railing "YOu go from supporting me to supporting Jonathan Kent! I should have known!"

"Lex, you fired me! I had to work somewhere! Besides the Kents are a whole lot nicer to me than you are". Lucy said in fear. "Okay, this has got to stop. Lex leave her alone!" said Lois. Lois trys to attack him from behind but then Lex gets his gun out and shoots Lois.

"LOIS!!!!!!!!!!" screamed Lucy.

Chapter 10 Or can it be Dangerous?

"Have you found them yet?" Martha asked.

"Nope", Clark replied to Martha in his cell phone, glancing anxiously about him. "Are you sure Lex is going to be here?"

"Yes", Martha responded. "Clark, you know all the anger he has towards anyone who changes sides, especially someone as loyal as Lucy was to his company. She worked so hard for him. We can't trust Lex's anger won't get the best of him. He'll be after Lucy. You'd better find them before it's too late!"

Martha heard a gunshot and a crash from the other side of the phone, then the line went dead. "Clark, be careful", she whispered as she slowly hung up the phone.

Clark supersped to underneath Lucy, catching her quickly and setting her back down before she could realize what had happened. Turning his attention towards Lois, he realized that the bullet had already hit her. But why wasn't she bleeding? Then, smiling, Clark remembered how Lois had demonstrated her cop training the other day. Of course, in preparation for her future job, she had been wearing a bullet proof vest. Typical Lois. Clark realized he wouldn't have to do much as he watched Lois quickly kick Lex into the water fountain that was in the middle of the mall.

After they got through laughing, Lucy turned to Superman. "Thanks for saving me".

Clark looked at her and smiled "It's no problem. It's what I do". Then he took off after making sure she was okay.
All Lucy could do was watch in amazement as Clark flew off.

Lois came running up nearly out of breath. The cops dragged Lex away handcuffing him.The onlookers went about their business once they knew Lucy was okay.

"oh my God", said Lois looking lucy over. "Are you okay? i saw you went over the balcony, I tried to save you but I didn't reach you in time. "

"I'll be okay. I'm just badly shaken, but I'm alive thanks to Superman". said Lucy

Lois put her arm around Lucy's shoulders. "Let's get out of here. I've had enough shopping for one day". "Me Too', said Lucy they grabbed their bags and left.

Chapter 11 New Talent Night

That night, Lucy was nervous about her performance. she was nervous about singing for a bigger crowd, and most of all, worried about her looks. Just then, Martha, and Lois came into her dressing room, "Looks like our new star is ready". said Martha's warm voice. she greeted Lucy with a bouquet of flowers yellow roses.

"They are so pretty. Thanks Martha and Lois for coming". Lucy hugged both of them. "I take it you are nervous", said Martha just as the three finished hugging. "I am, its just I'm used to playing school pep rallys and karaoke contests". said Lucy.

"You'll do great", said Lois. "We're all here to support you and cheer you on, me, Clark, Chloe, Lana and the Kents". "I am so lucky to have all of you as my friends". said Lucy getting emotional. Martha chuckled "And we're lucky to have you. You look great, Lucy, and don't go crying on us now, your on in a few minutes".

Lcuy put the flowers in a nearby vase. "I'll be out there soon, just need to touch up my makeup". both women hugged her. "Knock em' dead Luc", said Lois with a smile. Lucy smiled back "Thanks Lois". Martha waved at Lucy "If you get nervous just remember we're on the front row". And the two was out the door.

Lucy fluffed her now curly blonde hair which hung loosely about her shoulders. And reapplied her lipstick. Everything looked perfect she wore the green sparkly top along with the rhinstone jeans. She looked fantastic. And her zit looked less visible with the cream stuff she put on it.

It was now time to go knock em dead as Lois would say. Lucy made her way close to the stage just as Lana made her announcement.

"Ladies and Gentleman, tonight I present to you a seventeen year old girl who is extremely talented. She's been singing since she was only nine years old, and has the greatest voice and rock band. This is Smallville's latest awesome talent........

"Lucy Jennings come on out!" Lana called smiling.

Chapter 12 The show must go on.......

When Lucy came onto the stage in her outfit, the crowd went wild causing her to smile. Maybe she shouldn't be nervous. This was her new hometown! Fast rock music blared from the speakers and she began singing "Fly", a song she wrote about Clark. Who always seemed to not know what life held for him. As she looked into the audience, the room was dark, so she couldn't barely see anyone except the Kents in the Front row and her friends. When she was done with the first song, Lucy was overwhelmed by the response. They loved her! "Thank you Smallville! my name is Lucy Jennings, and I'll be your entertainment this evening! It's so overwhelming with the applause. This next song is about a past relationship of mine, I won't mention who it is, but you'll get the picture". Slow rock music began and Lucy began to sing "Hideaway". a heartbreaking ballad about a doomed relationship, and a couple keeping secrets from each other. Fake smoke trailed around her. The audience clapped at the end, and Lucy recieved cheers from her friends and the kents.

In between breaks Lucy talked to the audience and told them about how nervous she had been right before her performance. "Now I think about it, what was I so scared for? Smallville is where all my friends are". The crowd roared at their approval. Lucy giggled. "You guys make it so easy for a Big city girl to adjust to a smalltown." she grabbed a nearby stool and sat down close to the audience. "These next set of songs is about a friendship that couldn't be trusted. As most of you know, a relationship can't be healthy if there are lies and secrets all the time. And in my past relationships, they failed because I couldn't trust someone". Lucy didn't mention the fact that the next three songs were about her and Lex. But the Kents and her friends knew the songs were. slow music started and Lucy sang "Dangerous to know", "Do you want me", and "Weird", "Whos's that girl", and "Getaway".
afterwards the audience clapped and cheered again.

After Lucy took a sip of water she looked at the audience and giggled. "There's so much to tell in each song. Each song I've ever sung tells my personality. Whether I'm sad, happy, or angry. Or just want to admit my feelings towards someone. " Lucy was touched that this was an excellent audience. And they responded so well to her songs. "At this moment," she said "I'd like to introduce my band who has been with me from the beginning". Lucy felt slightly nervous, but she was so excited. Gesturing towards the two guitarists, she said, "Here's Kara and Rachel. Come on up, guys"

Chapter 13 Introducing the Band

Kara and Rachel both smiled warmly. They were happy for Lucy, because she had felt so out of place when working for Lex. Being on stage, playing music, it was like she had finally found her calling. And she seemed so at peace, comfortable, and happy on stage. They waved hello to the audience and explained how they had come to join the band.

"We all took music lessons together when we were growing up", said Rachel. "Kara and I were going to start a band, but neither of us have ever been much for singing. Sure, we can do harmony, but we'd rather not be singing in the spotlight. So of course we started looking for a singer. We went to a couple local recitals and saw Lucy, and we knew she was perfect. We asked her to join right away, and we became fast friends".

"And then we lived happy ever after", Kara joked, amused at the way their story seemed to sound like a fairy tale. When the audience stopped laughing, she said, Really, we all disagreed on some things, but they worked themselves out. And we're happy to be here for you tonight". Another wave of applause erupted, and they stepped back.

The keyboardist then introduced himself as Mickey. "I'm Kara's brother." he explained. He was taller and looked to be about two years older than Kara. "They used to practice in the garage all the time, and I came out to watch them practice, and I found that they were alot better than I expected. When they saw me watching them, they asked me to play the keyboard for their band. And I was more than willing to go ahead and play for them".

"Let's give Mickey a round of applause!" Lucy said. Then she introduced David, the drummer.

David was the shyest member of the band, only talking when he felt comfortable around others. Sensing his nervousness, Lucy did most of the talking for him. David had come to join their band when he watched them play during a concert. He immediately loved their sound. He and Lucy had actually dated awhile back, but things hadn't worked out between the two of them. Their personalities seemed compatible enough, but only for friendship, nothing more. After all the band members had been introduced, Kara surprised Lucy by taking the mike away from her and saying, "And now we'd like to introduce Lucy". More applause.

"Lucy's the driving force behind this whole band. She's the reason we came to practice every day. Not only is she a great singer, but she has a good heart. She's the one who inspires us to keep playing and keep going. I think she deserved a round of applause from all of us here tonight". Lucy blushed and smiled, looking down a little. She felt suddenly shy. "Awww, don't be so modest", Rachel smiled, giving Lucy a playful tap on the arm, causing both of them to giggle onstage.

Martha stood in the audience, watching Lucy perform with the rest of the band. She looked so happy, giggling and smiling with all her friends. Martha felt her heart go out to Lucy, knowing that Lucy had changed her life and turned it around for the better. She was so happy for Lucy.

And then, of course. Clark was watching Lucy. She looked so beautiful, her golden hair shimmering as the colored lights reflected off it. He felt a connection with her, and he knew she felt a connection to him when she turned and smiled in his direction. He felt sparks fly between them as she shyly looked away, still smiling.

Chapter 14 Love between Lucy and Clark?

Lucy couldn't believe how well the crowd was responding to the band and to their music. On Stage she did feel at home and at ease. Smiling faces and a warm crowd made her feel welcomed and accepted. Sitting on the stool provided for her on the stage, she began her talk to the crowd again.

"Give it up for my band! They are such great folks, and the best friends a girl could ask for! she laughed and the crowd gave another round of applause. Lucy once again found herself looking towards Clark's direction and each time, he made her blush a bit. He was so cute by the way he grinned.

During an instrumental break, Lucy ran her hand through her hair again. "There is one guy who is real special to me right now. He makes me laugh, and smile. No matter what kind of day I'm having there is always him to brighten it. Clark Kent, could you come up here, please?" she stood close to the stage looking towards him.

Chloe, Pete, Lois, and Lana all looked at each other and grinned. They knew how much Clark meant to Lucy and how much Lucy meant to Clark. They knew eventually the two would wind up together. It was only a matter of time. Clark looked surprised at first, but then grinned and walked onstage. Jason Teague sat with Lana intrigued by Lucy's talent to. He thought she sung great.

Lucy looked up to him then to the crowd. "I spent some nights up in my room having writer's block for some songs. Then an inspiration hit me. Clark inspired me to write these next set of songs. Lucy began to sing "Shine", "Underneath this Smile", then "Someone's watching over me". all the while singing to him. Lucy held his hand so he wouldn't be nervous being up there with her. While she sung to him Clark smiled at her. Lucy wondered what on earth was he thinking as she sang to him. As she sung the next three songs, fake smoke surrrounding the stage giving her show a sexy look and the lights were dim pink and purple lights.

Chapter 15 Clark has feelings for Lucy

Clark felt Lucy lace her fingers between his, and he again felt a surge of electricity run through him. Not a bad surge. No, never a bad surge, not when he was around Lucy. It was a good surge, full of excitement and his feelings for Lucy, coursing through his veins. And he liked it. The smoke curled around them as Lucy sang, and he felt the magic course through the air. That's what it was, he thought. Magical. The pink and purple lights were in perfect hues, turning the smoke to different colors. Smiling, he squeezed Lucy's hand back, and he knew she was happy, just as she knew he was happy.

Of course, when he had first come up, Clark did feel a little awkward. After all, he was a farmer's son from a small town. He was unaccustomed to so much attention. Surely no one had ever had him come up onto stage with them before, and he was a little nervous. But the second Lucy's hand met his, all the nervousness seemed to subside. It was as if the audience had disappeared, and Lucy was singing only to him. Although the audience could clearly see both Lucy and Clark, they could not see the audience. And, even though they were in front of a large crowd of people, the setting seemed strangely intimate, as though they were the only two people in the world. ANd, Time seemed to stop while lucy kept singing , and he realized that she was singing to him. The audience was singing too, of course, but the words came from her heart, cradling his ears and seeping softly into his brain. her words, pouring out her feelings for him.

And, for the first time in a long time, he felt happy. Any past feelings he had felt for Lana seemed to disappear, sinking away into Lucy's eyes as she smiled up at him and the song ended. And, just as the song finished, she kissed him on the cheek. Again he felt the excitement, the surge of electricity flowing through him and making him weak at the knees. She squeezed his hand reassuringly, and, before he knew what had come over him, he kissed her. Not on the cheek. On her lips, right in front of the whole crowd. Right in front of his mother, father, Chloe, Lana, and everyone else. And then he felt Lucy's arms around his neck and she kissed him back, and only the clapping of the audience brought them back to reality. They both pulled away smiling, and Clark held Lucy's hand as she thanked the audience, then they walked off stage together.

Chemical Romance:Rated R [Discuss]

It was a cool and crisp morning. But what could one expect being awake at 6 A.M.while you were in the Swiss Alps? Lana stood bundled on the balcony as she watched the snow falling slowly. Snow had fallen every day since Lana had arrived. Although she wanted to watch the splendor and beauty of this winter majesty, she had a purpose. She fished her hand inside her coat and pulled out a vile. The label read ?Project 1069? and the liquid was a bright pink. She sloshed it back and forth in the tube to watch it bubble. She could not help but snicker as she thought about all the trouble and fun this harmless looking fluid had caused.

Lana was walking to her next class for the day when Chloe came running up to her, nearly out of breath.

?Chloe, slow down. I am guessing you must have some very big news to tell me from the Planet,? Lana said.

Chloe took in a large gulp of air before she began. ?Lana, I just got an anonymous tip from a fellow student about some weird LuthorCorp project underway right here at Met U.?

?Really? What kind of stuff is he working on now??

?Well, I don?t know. All they would tell me is that there was something going on and to take a look at this flier. What do you make of it??

Lana looked down at the fluorescent green piece of paper. In bold letters it read: ?lost someone you loved more than anything and can?t quiet figure out how to get them back? Maybe your answer lies in science. How about listening to your head rather than your heart? Be a part of a miraculous scientific break through. Join us in room 1069 at 8 A.M. sharp on Tuesday morning to be in the study.?

?This has to be nonsense, Chloe. A bunch of bull. Love potions don?t work. Remember the cheerleaders back in Smallville, who used the meteor rocks in the water cooler to put their boyfriends under their spell,? Lana asked as she handed the paper back to Chloe.

?Aren?t you the slightest bit curious? Tell me you would not want a chance at Clark again,? Chloe said to her.

Lana just looked at her. She had been trying to put the thought of him out of her head. Since their argument, she had barely spoken to him. She knew Chloe did on a daily basis and she also knew that Clark was trying to find out information about how Lana was doing. It was Lana who had ended their relationship over Clark?s jealousy of Lex. Lana had no interest in Lex but she was unsuccessful of convincing Clark of this so one day she told him that enough was enough. If he was not willing to trust her, she was leaving and she did just that. He tried to call her until she changed all her numbers and refused to tell him what they were. She changed all her e-mail addresses and made Chloe promise not to give them to him. But even in doing all of this what happened? She still missed him. She missed his warmth and all their long talks. He was comforting to her. He had been her best friend and had become her lover. She missed his strong arms, perfect lips and his unending desire to please her more and better than she could ever possibly imagine.

?Chloe, you know how I feel about him. I just don?t know.?

?Look, Lana. What could it hurt? I need a story to give to the ** at the Planet so I can get out of the basement and you need a way to see Clark Kent in a new light. Why not go under cover and see what happens? Go see what Lex is up to. Please! Do it for me, if for no other reason.?

Chloe gave her the sad puppy dog look and that was all it took. She had always been a sucker for that sort of thing. She let out a loud sigh.

?Okay. Okay. I?ll do it. But just for you. I am trying to get over Clark, right??

?Sure, Lana. What ever you say. You can still go to class and be in room 1069 by 8. I guess taking all these early classes was a good thing this semester. When you come out, I want to know everything. Here take this.?

Chloe handed her a small tape recorder. Lana looked at it and was slightly confused.

?What do you want me to do with this??

?Record the lecture, of course. I want to know every little thing they wind up telling you. I can?t write a credible story without all the facts. Ms. Kahn would have a fit for sure.?

?You so owe me one, Chloe.?

?I will put it in my book full of many favors. I would think all the times I lied for you and Clark so you could go and hump like bunnies would be good enough.?

?I see your point. But you will owe me for this. Your book is empty now, okay??

?I get it. Now get going so I can get my scoop.?

Lana went to her next class and when it ended, she headed down the hall to room 1069. When she got there, she was about 5 minutes early as she sat down at one of the tables. There were about 5 other people also waiting. Two guys and three girls. A TV was at the front of the room and a podium. A table beside the TV had a small tray that had something hid under a black sheet. On the podium were what appeared to be several binders. Lana figured it must have been the test protocol. What had she let Chloe talk her into again? She still had time to just get up and leave and let Chloe find her own angle without involving Lana at all. But, she was the only best friend that she had left. Lana didn?t even talk to Lex any more. Not after the mess he had caused between her and Clark. Lex Luthor was a jerk and there were times she wished that she could have fixed him up with Lois. Lois seemed to be more his style. She was bossy and could be on the sneaky side. She may be Chloe?s cousin but they were not very much alike. At least not anymore. Lana had to admit she felt threatened by her where Clark was concerned. Some times when you really like someone, you act like they are the most annoying person in the planet. That would describe Clark and Lois?s relationship to a tee. Clark constantly talked how she was rude and obnoxious but did he harbor feelings for Lois? And what if he did? If he didn?t want to trust Lana, he could just go to the other L.L.

Just then a gentleman in a white lab jacket entered the room. He walked to the podium and handed the binders to his female assistant for her to hand out. When everyone had a copy, he began his presentation.

?Good morning. I am Professor Kyle Richards and this is my colleague Doctor Cheyenne Rule. We are here to present to you a project that is under our direction for LuthorCorp. Allow me to show you a video of what you will be working with. If you all would gather closer around the monitor, we can begin,? Professor Richards said.

They all made their way closer and he started the video. Lana reached in her bag and hit record on the Dictaphone. The video started off with a message from Lex, thanking them for taking part in the study and that he hoped that with all their combined hard work, some good results would become of it. He went on to describe what was being tested was called Project 1069, named for the room they would be coming to weekly. A serum had been made to be used as a sort of hormone enhancer. In a nutshell, what would happen is that the person that you had deep feelings for would be made that much stronger. Unlike what the cheerleaders had made, there was to report no side effects, meaning you did not get violently jealous if someone else was with them, like friends or family. No, you would be able to feel true love for them, even if you didn?t like them. Lana did not see the real point in such a potion. If you didn?t have feelings for someone, you didn?t. Taking something to make you feel that way just seemed wrong. What was Lex really up to? The rest of the video was more technical, which she didn?t really get but she got it all on tape for Chloe to check out later. In all, the tape took a total of 20 minutes. When it was over, Professor Richards returned to the podium while Doctor Rule turned off the tape. He cleared his throat.

?As you can see, this is highly confidential. When you agree to take part in this, you can not tell anyone about it. You must be very serious about all of this. It may seem silly to you but this is science to us and it is important. So, if you will kindly read over the first few pages of the binder and fill out the necessary forms we will give you your week?s supply of serum. Next week, you will come back for more and bring back the results of your experiments. Allow me to thank you in advance for the help you are giving to LuthorCorp.?

Right away, 3 of the 6 got up and left. Within 10 minutes, the other 2 left, leaving only Lana. Part of her wanted to get up and run but she was in this for Chloe. Professor Richards and Dr. Rule made their way to her table and pulled up a chair beside her. This made her feel very uncomfortable. She tried to relax as they leaned in to speak with her.

?Well, when I saw you enter the room, I knew you were the only serious student of science. And your name is,? Richards ask.

?Lana, Lana Lang,? she answered.

?I have heard of you, Miss Lang. Are you not acquainted with Mr. Luthor,? Rule questioned her.

?I have known Lex a long time and we were once business partners.?

?Well, this is most interesting. He will be pleased that a friend wants to be involved. Well, I guess you will be our only subject so that will make it easier to analyze things. Here, this is your supply for the week. Return here next Tuesday at 8 sharp again with your data sheets filled out,? Richards said.

?Yes, sir,? Lana replied as she took the case from him.

?Inside are instructions on how to use it and what to report. Do exactly as it asks and then everything will work out according to plan,? Rule said.

Lana grabbed all her belo
